Monoplan was responsible for the new hotel construction of the Tristar Group in the development area Basel-Link Allschwil. The Holiday Inn Express brand business hotel has 170 rooms in the 3-star plus segment.

Around one-third of the rooms are “long-stay” versions with an additional kitchenette. The “short-stay” rooms are in the familiar compact version. In addition to the reception and lobby, a restaurant is located on the first floor. In addition, there is an externally leasable area for a further gastronomic offer or a store. In the inner courtyard there is an outdoor seating for the restaurant.

Monoplan’s design for the facade is intended to lend fluidity and lightness to the strict volume of the structure. Therefore, all edges are rounded. From the edges of the building to the openings in the facade. The public areas on the first floor are deliberately exposed to appear inviting and to enrich the neighborhood with the lively activity inside. The closed structure seems to float above the first floor and only touch the ground at certain points, which emphasizes the lightness of the architecture. In keeping with this, the façade is finished in light Corian. The bronze-colored reveals of the windows emphasize the playful arrangement of the windows like puzzle pieces.

Construction work began in the fall of 2020. Two different types of wet rooms are installed as prefabricated elements. The opening took place in the end of 2022.
