First Ruby Hotel in Zurich

Monoplan has been tasked with the development of the former “Du Pont” office building on Beatenplatz square. On Tuesday 27 February 2018, the owner of the property – property company PSP Swiss Property – announced who the new hotel operator would be. On the occasion of the annual media conference, it was announced that, in 2021, the Munich-based budget design hotel chain Ruby Hotels will be opening a hotel with around 210 rooms in the building of the former ABC cinema. The fact that it will take another three years until then has to do with the fact that the property is a listed building and, as a result, the restoration process is extremely time-consuming. CEO of PSP, Giacomo Balzarini, has reported that a new restaurant will be built in the location of the former restaurant “Movie” on the ground floor.
