Holiday Inn Zurich

As a celebration of its 10-year anniversary in Oerlikon, Holiday Inn has commissioned Monoplan to renovate the lobby and bar of the Holiday Inn Oerlikon. The brief was to design cosy and inviting contemporary spaces that would harmonize with the existing building.

Being inspired by the hotel’s close proximity to Zurich’s Hallenstadion, an important venue for concerts, our maxim was “let us entertain you”. Since the hotel’s bar is usually replete with concert-goers the hotel’s reception counter has been designed to double up as a pop-up bar in case of need.

Music also plays the main role in the lounge. Records and instruments serve as decoration. On closer inspection, the pendulum lights above the bar turn out to be converted hi-hats (drums).

Seating niches with wide wooden frames were integrated in the window area. The combination with selected furniture has created inviting seating groups.
