Potters’ village

The objective of the design task is to develop an innovative and cross-generational residential complex in the heart of Zurich. Given that various protection provisions – like inventoried buildings and protected tree populations – make it impossible to use all of the available area, Monoplan has been tasked with planning a project that will showcase the potential to the respective public authorities.
The public authorities are currently carrying out a balancing of interests to enable the protection regulations to be relaxed.

The land was previously used for mining clay, which was then processed directly on-site. The pottery factory and adjoining building are still partially in their original condition, and are thus part of the inventory under a preservation order.
